Requirements

All new client's dogs must go thru an evaluation of PRIOR to boarding.  The reason for this is that I need to evaluate your dog before I can agree to take care of him/her.  I want to make sure that I can give you some feedback about your dog before you leave town so that you will know how your dog will react to your absence.

What Am I Looking for?

  • How well does you dog accept your leaving
  • Are there any separation anxieties, or depression?
  • I like to see how your dog accepts other dogas as possible playmates, or if he/she prefers to be left alone (this is normal for senior odgs).
  • I like to know if your dog is willing to eat food while you are away.
  • I like to know if your dog will drink water while you are away.  I offer water to all dogs 24/7, there is plenty of water always available, however if a dog is too stressed, they won't drink no matter what.  REALLY!  They will flip their water bowl over if in stress.
  • I like to know if your dog is comfortable enough to sleep thru the nights - (try getting this observation from your typical kennel who's staff all goes home for the night, leaving the dogs to their own aloneness).  I can tell if your dog has been "ruined" by past kennel experiences as they will typically bark/howl all night.  This is behavior picked up from kennel stays that I DON'T want in my home, as I do need my sleep at night.
  • I require ALL DOGS to be clean - don't bring me a dog that hasn't had a bath in months, or is matted, shedding terribly, etc.  Common Sense; dogs must be taken care of, and have the appearance of that.
  • I require ALL DOGS to be on a monthly Flea & Tick preventative.  Flea collars to not qualify, as they are not efective in preventing fleas & ticks, they only keep fleas & ticks off the collar itself, not the dog's entire body.
  • I require all dogs to be up-to-date on vaccines; Rabies, Distemper & Bordatetella.  You must bring proof of vaccination from your veterinarian.
  • ALL DOGS MUST BE SPAYED AND NEUTERED.  Having an unneutered male means he will lift his leg and "mark" everything in my house, and is just a disruption to myself and the other dogs, not to mention I'll be spending more time cleaning up after the marking male that I would rather spend with him if he is unneutered.  Females in season are not allowed.
  • Please note: if your dog is 7-8 or 9 years old and has never been boarded before, or never been away from home, now is not the time to start.  I cannot stress enough how important it is to get your dogs out is the world while they are young to have new experiences, even if you are not going away, it's important for the dog's ability to adpt to new situations and for proper socialization.  If you wait too long, your dog will not make a good candidate for boarding, no matter where you decide to board.  By then it's too late for him/her to be boarded anywhere without disasterous results!
  • Upon completion of a trial run day of Doggie Daycare, you will receive a $10 off coupon for your boarding dates.
I take pride in assuring you that your dog has a happy and positive experience under my care; I want you and your dog to be happy with me and I want to be happy with you both also. :)  I want you to be able to tell other people that your experience with me as your Pet Sitter has been a good one and that you would recommend my services to other's who care for and insist on quality care for their precious pets.
